Well, how about this test, walk in to your bathroom, look at the mirror, who's looking back? If it's Brad Pitt .... your dreaming

One could theorize that because you feel (physical and emotional) pain, that proves you are not dreaming, as most people do not feel those things in dreams, or if they do, it's a transient feeling, something to be dismissed upon the altered state of waking. However, I cannot prove this is more than a supposition on the part of the general populace. Do me a favor if you find out for sure? Let me know, because if this IS a dream, I'm going to dream some better circumstances for myself ASAP. :)

You are not dreaming reality. Some one would eventually try your pain reflex.
Your reality is your own unique perception of the world around you, never lose sight of that but if you have a wonderful dream for society please share it with all of us.

If, in a dream, you look up something in a dictionary you will get a blank and frustrated because the information just isn't there. It might even wake you up.

In most cases your brain won't let you confuse dreams with reality. Our minds see them differently than it does our waking world.
