I am astonished that the first two Answerers assumed that China was an enemy of the USA. How "Cold War" of them - it's rather quaint.

Countries do what is perceived to be in their best interests. As two of the superpowers in the world, it has been in the best interest of China and the USA to get along, and they have done that quite well ever since Richard Nixon visited in 1972 [almost 35 years ago, folks!].

Asking about allies only makes sense in a war situation, which [ding! ding!] we are not in at the same time as China. We really don't care what they are doing in Mongolia, for example, and they don't care what we are doing with the Muslim terrorists. China has Muslim problems of its own, BTW.

Economically, China and the USA have outstanding relations. China's main trading partners are: Taiwan, Japan, and the USA. China's main economic allies are: Taiwan, Japan, and the USA.
Do you see a pattern here?

I don't think it needs to have any allies. You might try looking at it's major trading partners in the cia country factbook at cia.gov (the link on their homepage is world fact book on the left hand side), or search Yahoo! for china.

Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, US, Germany

can't understand why it would be trading with or be an ally of Taiwan, which it just wants to conquer. I would think it would be allied with anyone against the US and it's allies. But I guess we have friendly relations with the Asian giant, since it has become much more capitalist.
