1) Religion - My interpretation of god is better than yours. He/she/it tells me to hate.
2) Entitlement - The world owes me because of who I believe in/where I live/political affliliation, etc. I deserve what you have and you don't.
3) Ignorance - The level is staggering and can be diretly related to #1. Why seek knowledge when it's easier to have it handed to me by someone that makes me feel good about being ignorant? Animals learn to fear the unknown, and that breeds hatred.
4) Technology - Bigotry and hatred spread anonymously every where without leaving the comfort of your home.
5) Herding - The basic animal instinct of strength in numbers. Nothing brings a group of people together like a common hatred of another group.

A good question. I believe that humanity is on a downward path in terms of morality. Although we are getting smarter, we use our intelligence to more effectively hurt one another. We chop down entire forests to make room for shopping complexes, not homes. We start wars with other countries to take their resources and assert our superiority. We spend billions on weapons and defense systems but sell food and water, which everyone needs, at exorbitant prices. It makes sense, then, that hatred is growing... we can expect other vices to grow as well, as they have.
God bless.

It is more out of necessity that people managed to tolerate, rather than true love.
The modern gadgets etc, removed this 'dependence' to a large extent. So the basic instinct started dominating. It now requires a lot to evolve into a true 'human' being and to contain this hatred.

Because its getting harder and harder to avoid listening to and the impact of zealots (not just religious).
Cheap mass communication for instance means that its harder and harder for me to avoid BS marketing for instance. This frustrates me, but not to the point of hatred. Its just an example of how it can happen.
The world is changing from a place where you can't just stop listening to people you don't want to deal with and still function. Attention is not asked for or earned, but moving to a point where it is conscripted from you whether you want to listen or not.
People speak their mind and if nobody listens, they just scream louder. Hatred from them for not getting the attention, hatred from everyone else for being forced to give it.
The world is a smaller and thus much more personal place than it was.

Because people place a higher value on material things than they do on other humans. And if you don't have something they want you have no value in their eyes! But to break it down to it's most basic it's the 7 deadly sins run amok!

because we are highly ambitious, not really willing to give time to our lives to get what we want, cant handle success of others, and above all a sense of superiority over others which is the worst for your ego. All these make us hate others who donot do the things our way or make our lives restricted.

the world is changing, people are changing. we get more and more ideas which clashed with the perceptions of other people. As we discover more things, our knowledge broadens, and we believe ourselves to be on the right side and we start to look down on other people.
