Do you feel that they go over board in their mission or that they are just doing their job for the country?
I feel that recruiters have received a bad rap because they are attacked all because they are doing what they have been told to do by their superiors.
Plus, recruiters don't force people to sign on the dotted line or say the oath. People sign up on their own free will and people from the outside see that as the recruiter is out to prey on them, or something to that sort? I think it's wrong for recruiters to be pegged in such a fashion because they are serving their country too.
I would like your opinion on the matter, please?
Thanks

I think it's not because all they're doing is JUST asking! Its a persons free will to say yes or no! The recruiters are just there to ask and to tell of the benefits! Not to force you to go into the Army it's not like the draft or something!

The recruiter's overall mission is not evil, as is the opinion I think you are speaking of.

However, as with anything, there are bad eggs in any profession or vocation. And this has always been a problem with military recruiters.

Other than the life and death pressure found on the front lines, in military hospitals, or in search and rescue, the highest stres and pressure profession in the military IS recruiting.

Its sales, and its approached as sales. I am not exagerating when I say that any recruiting office in the country (even more so during a time of war, such as now) resembles more the office in Glengary Glenn Ross than M*A*S*H*.

To meet this incredible demand, there are unfortunately many recruiters that blur or cross the line between black and white.

They can misrepresent the pros and cons of joining, it is very common for recruiters to make empty promises, that a new recruit finds is just about a bold faced lie once they get to boot camp or at their first training school.

Also, the profession IS predatory of people in lower income AND lets face it a lower inteligence. I guarentee your gonna see 200% more recruiters at career days in Watts, the Bronx, Newark, NJ, Detroit, Atlanta, New Orleans, than you will in Beverly Hills or the Uppper East Side of Manhatten. (these locations and economic situation have NOTHING to do with intelligence!!!!)

you can't say all of them are bad but when the only ones in the papers are negative that is what the people see. i am not fond of them because of my experience with them but i don't think all of them are bad. they do have a certain number of recruits they need to get to keep there job so sometimes they might have to resort to unusual methods.

I think it is messed up that recruiters try to get women to join the military. A woman's place is in the home, not on the battlefield.
