Surprisingly (and ironically), I did not have an answer to this question. Help me out here.

My friend Tereshawn told me that her nephew told her that her was gay. That was all fine and good to me because I said to myself he was finding out who he was.

Thing is her nephew is 8.

This is the rub. I knew when I was 9, so it is possible that you could know at that early of an age, but what do you think she should do? I've never been faced with this before, that's why it caught me off guard.

Clarification:

What should she do aunt-wise? Talk to him, find out how he feels, all that good stuff, you know...

Make sure the kid understands what gay means. He sees a lot of it on TV - gay guys are funny, rich, well dressed, popular... maybe that's "gay" to him.

If he truly grasps the concept, then support him through it. It's going to be tough for him out there.

Friend you said you knew at age 9. The rub I see is you are hoping responders will say something against the 8 year old. Then you as a 9 year old will attack the responder and put him down when they are off guard----brag about your conquest.

How is it an 8 or 9 year child knows they are gay, without
even reaching puberty yet.

How can one find themselves, when not lost. You have a penis, for all you know at your age, it's to urinate with.

Or has the age of puberty been lowered to such a low age that the both of you are growing pubic and under arm hair. Your sexual urge is to have intercourse with another male and not a female.

Should your maturity have been put upon you so quickly. Then your age of reason must have kicked in at the age of 5. So when 5 years old or younger kill then they are prepared to spend life in jail or save your elders tax money and request the death penalty for your manly crime.

May, you are ready to die for killing another human being . Yet, do not have the intelligence to tell an older adult, who hasn't asked you for advice.

My advice, tell the Aunt nothing, teach your Aunt's nephew to tell you when she (if older than 10) is taking a shower. Then 2 gay boys can seek in and masturbate while drooling over a feminine body. Remember you are both gay, not bi. So use the female body as a guard against telling your parents what is going on.

gay life style more acceptable now in mainstream life

their are popular gay themed TV shows and personalities
so it gives a youngster the confidence
to declare who he is at an earlier age
than earlier generation

take him at his world
but mom should have a discussion with child
see why he feels this way
and how she ban help him
and to come to her if he had problems with others

she should set a dating age and rules
just like for a heterosexual child

If the child is mature and actually knows what a homosexual is, then he may realize it. As the mother, the only thing I would worry about is her son talking about it with friends at school. He may be secure, but if the kids talk to their parents a terrible problem may begin with ignorant parents. As the mom she should accept her son, tell her son that being a homosexual is okay, but only to discuss it in a safe environment until the day comes where he will not need to protect himself from ignorance. School kids, we all know, can be cruel. At this age though, I would worry more about the parents.

Nothing let nature and time take its course....if he really is gay, then he knew himself at a early age, that's great...if it turns out he is not, no harm no fowl, best to keep it to herself for now...

I don't think she should do anything. I'm not sure what you mean anyways, DO about what? Him being gay? Nothing to do about that....maybe I just don't understand your question....

Why is it that people think they're destined to be gay? it's utterly retarded and really nasty. I have no idea how people can live with the fact that they like the same sex. He's 8! wow well the parenst have done something wrong.
