Many people that are supposed to know this stuff describe what they refer to as a successful life.

I guess this means you are half way toward becoming brilliant!

The example I like to talk about is former President Clinton.

Now before you get your panties all in a bunch, I could care less about his politics, his character, or whether you think he was a good president or not (in this instance anyway).

Look at President Clinton as just some schmuck! Just like you and me!

(LOL)

I have no idea how old you are, but let's assume you are in High School. What would you think if one of your friends said, "I'm gonna be president one day!"

For the most part you'd think he was nuts!

And your comment to this statement would be something like, "Oh, shut up with that stuff! You are full of crap!"

Well, what do you think were Bill Clinton's friend's reaction when he said that? I ask you because it was in High School when he formed his political aspirations.

You think it was a pipe dream? You think he was blowing smoke up someone's butt when he said that?

Wrong-O!!!!!!!

Most of the people who are supposed to know this stuff say that for one to lead a successful life, it's based on goals, strategies, and discipline.

And along with this, one has to have confidence, belief in one's self, and conviction.

Getting back to Bill Clinton, he was in High School when he decided that he wanted to be President. He possessed the confidence in himself to actually believe that he could do it.

He possessed the conviction in that belief to have the discipline to do whatever it took to accomplish this feat.

He then put a plan together, realizing that he'd have to go to college, get his bachelors, then become a lawyer, and while at it, becoming a Rhodes Scholar didn't hurt either.

So one by one he set out putting together a plan, and from there put together a strategy on how to get to where he needed to be and this turned out to be a 25 year plan!

But instead of merely concocting a pipe dream, he internalized it, made it a goal, and figured out a plan.

And I'd say he was pretty successful with this "dream."

The problem with most people (97% of the population as stated by some) is that they don't have the confidence in themselves to come up with a goal, then act on it.

Or there are some that come up with a goal, put together a plan, formulate a strategy, then realize how difficult it is to keep with their plan, and lack the discipline to make the right decisions, and somehow "fall off" the plan somewhere along the way and never attain the goal.

The cliff notes version of this is to say we are all (for the most part) the result of the decisions we made. I'm not talking about people born with disabilities, mental deficiencies, or things like that. They live their lives by another set of perameters, but for the rest of us, regardless of race, economic status, or whatever, we all have the same opportunity to pass or fail, so to speak.

Obviously, some have more to overcome than others. There are some who just have to make it to age 18 alive, and others don't have such obstacles.

But we all are capable of choosing a goal, figuring out a strategy, and implementing a plan. Then it's up to ourselves to possess the subjectives (confidence, conviction, belief, discipline) to see that we can make the proper decisions to see that plan to fruition.

If you are talking about success in terms of happiness, then I would say making a difference in other people's life other than your own is success. Selfless actions will bring you more happiness then being rich.

the amount of creativity the base respect your life is worth ( alive in your 20 =1 respect, graduate with honers=5 respect etc) so if 2 people walk in a room one with base respect 120 and the other with one of 50 the 120 guy is more succesfull, but if the 50 guy just saved a orphanage from burning down his base respect wil temporarily increase a lot (winning goal etc) and in time that achievement will increase permanent respect a bit (note parents get higher base respect rating from there children, even with all else being equal)

The determination you put to reach your goals. The positiveness you have to achieve them and the passion to keep them. perhaps the maturity to don't let your triumphs to get into your head believing you are better than other people, but to share as much is possible your triumphs.
