Here's what you should do. Infection will be able to work into the sore, but you can alleviate it if you start now.
Wash the area with Dial, the regular orange liquid, if you have it. It's completely antibacterial. It's going to burn, and I won't mince words here, just brace yourself a little before cleaning it up. Tell yourself first that it's gonna hurt, but not enough to make you howl. That's sorta raw, ya know?
Remove your piercing, whatever ring or flower you had gotten. If you don't, that is going to stick to it, or get caught on your clothing and make a nasty issue worse.
Don't worry right now about getting any cysts. It won't happen if you take care. After washing it with antibacterial soap, dry it lightly with a soft towel. Something clean, and that is more like a valore, instead of terry, although white terry that is clean is good. Just don't be rough and dab it till it's dry.
Then use an antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin or even some store brands have the same ingredients. Put it on a 2 X 2 piece of gause and before taping it on, make certain you straighten out the injury so it will not curl under the bandage. Then put the gause over it and tape it with tape formulated for 'skin'. This way, it won't peal off like duct tape. :>), oooohh that would hurt.
Try that and let me know how you make out. Between the soap and the ointment you should be okay. Be sure to change it a couple of times a day. Also over that gause, you can just put a regular extra large bandaid so it doesn't show so much. Use the kind that are about 2" wide. When you heal up, you can get another piercing, but you don't want defects....right?
If it isn't healing within a few days, then get to a doctor for an antibiotic that you can take orally, or see a dermitologist.
Let me know, Okay?

When I got mines done the piercing guy told me: 1. Never take the piercing out, EVER. 2. Do not clean it with peroxide or alcohol. 3. Wash every day with soap (around the hole and the jewelry) 4. Clean with salt water solution (use Q-tip) Try this for a few weeks and if it still doesn't heal then contact the parlor and ask them for more specific advice. Good luck! :)

you are going to need to see a doctor. You can get really sick from a piercing infection that isn't healing right. Especially in your belly, because the bacteria is protected in that existing hole, and you cant really treat it from the outside. I got cellulitis on my belly from an infected navel piercing. I had to get antibiotics. It sucked, and it hurt alot.
