Romance inspires me. I get all welled up inside and then I just want to write. Even if I'm not writing romantic text I still feel inspired to write.

Let's be honest....sometimes NOTHING will inspire a person to write. Sometimes that blank page is the face of evil itself...mocking you, staring you down with blank indignance.

Sometimes, writing is an absolute chore. When that happens I'll write ANYTHING...a shopping list, a list of TV personalities with whom I'd like to sleep or who I'd like to see locked in a gulag. Sometimes I'll just write words like "snickerdoodle" over and over again just to fill a page.

The reason is because I know the alternative would be to write NOTHING.

Sometimes the only thing that inspires me to write is desperation. Because I know that nothing comes of nothing. As long as I can force myself to scribble even the most banal crap I know there is hope that something meaningful can emerge from beneath all the "snickerdoodles."

Just keep writing. Who knows, maybe you'll write something inspiring...

Lately - awareness of my mortality is inspiration but the driving force continues to be Compulsion. Without that I would probably get in and stay in a 'bloc'.

Strong emotions, positive or negative.
A personal epiphany or insight about myself or what I believe might be true of humans more generally.
And good writing is rooted in specifics, not generalizations the way I've worded this here.

I am inspired by curiosity. i want to find out why something is so, or why something works, or doesn't work, or to discover what might happen if certain personalities were put in certain situations.

Nature, love, problems, good times, bad times, my thoughts of what happened in some of the decades before I was born.

A single moment I am in and I find words just piling into my head. I've even had it happen in an exam. Moments, that's all.

by things that happen...i love to write about the sun coming up..or the kids playing on a warm spring morning. The first frost. If these things are in my head writing them helps me get it out of my head.
Mostly I write about things that happen...I have to write them down to get them out of my head.
