You should be able to just plug into the wall and connect right to the internet. You will only need a router if you plan on using more than one computer. The landlord should have the T1 line set up and ready for you.

Let me start by saying T1 is NOT a computer network. T1 is nothing more than 24 channels of 64kbps port each. You can turn them into 24 voice ports, 24 digital ports of 64k each, 1 digital port of 1.5mb or anywhere in between. How it will function all depends on how it is terminated. THAT part is NOT your choice. Telephone company sets it up for the subscriber, which in your case, is your landlord.

What you have to find out from your landlord is, how he is making the network connection (assuming it is connected to Internet? Don't assume!) available to you. More than likely, you have a Ethernet jack in your office.

From there, you will want your own firewall, so that other businesses sharing the connection can't get on to your portion of the network.

There is NO general answer for your question. You have to ask your landlord.

T1, it kind of depends.. but you definitely can't just plug it into your computer.

I would talk to the T1 carrier and ask them if they've leased the equipment to your building. If I had to guess, you need a CSU/DSU to convert that T1 circuit's signal to ethernet type .. then run it into a router, which then will give you a signal that a computer can use.

It depends on what is been bought from the T1 carrier. If they are offering end-to-end solution, all needed equipment should already be in place.

first off, contact the landlord of the property and ask them what all they have done with the network... and check with others in the building and see what they have done.. if it was all done correctly, you should be able to plug your network cable directly into the wall socket (if there is one for RJ-45)... and another thing, if you have more than one computer, you might also look into purchasing a switch, so you can connect more than one PC to a single port.
Good Luck! hope it all works out for you.

Check with your landlord. Sounds like you can just plug in. Go ahead and try, the worst that can happen is that it doesn't work.
