An eccentric scientist builds a time machine and offers an open challenge. You must live for one year in Plague ravaged Europe back in the 1300's. The identitiy of the black plague has just been discovered and you will be given an innoculation so that you cannot catch it. But you must live in that age amongst all the death and all of the suffering ( Close to two thirds of Europe died in the plague and the bodies were piled up on the roads and in the feilds by the thousands.) You will be without all of the modern conveniences you know for a year. You may not take back anything with you that would not have existed in that era. (oh and hey, don't ruin my hypothetical, i know that there would be language issues even in England, but put that consideration to the side if you are able). If you agree to his terms he will deposit the 300 million dollars into your accont before you leave and when you return you will have it. Do you agree to his terms?

Sure - most people who descended from those Europeans have immunity from that strain of the plague.

This hypothetical is meaningless, as time travel into the past is impossible. Even if it was possible to go back in time, you would ensure that your existence is compromised, especially by going back several centuries before you were born. Plus, I believe that 1/3 of Europes popluation was killed, not 2/3. Plus the plague was most deadly in certain cities. There are ways to see horrible death in this time without going into science fiction. Just take a stroll through beautiful downtown Baghdad.

Where did you get the 300 million figure from? Of course doing just about anything which will earn you 300 times your expected lifetime earnings potential in a single year would be worth doing.

Wow - what a great question !!
I guess I would have to decline the offer as 300 million would be lovely but what if I died back in the 1300s - I would never get back to reclaim my money.
However, if I could be guaranteed to return back to today's day then I think the offer could be a serious thought !!

This hypothetical is incomprehensible, as time return and forth into the previous is impossible. notwithstanding if it replace into conceivable to circulate lower back in time, you may ensure that your existence is compromised, especially by going lower back a number of centuries earlier you have been born. Plus, i think that a million/3 of Europes popluation replace into killed, not 2/3. Plus the plague replace into maximum deadly in specific cities. there are techniques to work out terrible dying in this time without going into technological understanding fiction. purely take a walk via suitable downtown Baghdad. the place did you get the three hundred million determine from? of direction doing very almost something which will earn you 3 hundred situations your estimated lifetime earnings skill in one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days may be properly worth doing.

No Way! I couldn't deal with seeing all the other people suffering. I have a hard time dealing with the suffering that's is going on right now in the world, and all I have to do most of the time is see a few minutes of it on TV.

Hmm this is a tricky one. Even if I was immune from that particular disease, many many diseases would result from all the dead bodies. i think i will decline. Oh and to that other guy, Travel back in time is possible atleast theoretically, ever hear of a worm-hole?

Absolutely. I would live in a forest away from the stink...at least as far away as I can get away from it at least. I love living off the land, i know that's hard to believe seeing as how i'm on the internet right now, but i really do thrive in the outdoors. so, yeah, sign me up!!!
