I have encrypted some files on an external Hard Drive while I was logged on as a user. Sometime later, I have deleted that user and created others. Now, I cannot access the files even though I tried creating the same user and password. I still don't have access to the files. Is there any way around it? I can see the certificate thumbprint but how to use it to resolve the access problem?
Someone should be able to help here!

Yes I am sorry to say you are up a creek. Windows XP encryption associates the encrypted files with a particular user account, so once you delete that account, you have lost the ability to get to those files.

When you deleted the user, the encryption keys were deleted as well. You will need to use a master password or backdoor password to get around it.
