Wow! I do remember seeing that movie, but I have vague memories of it because I was only nine. But, since the entertainment industry more and more pushes the impossible thin look, it would be a relevant topic to address again. (And her voice was so nice to listen to!) Hmm...an actress to play her. Maybe the one who played Lois Lane in the recent "Superman". I couldn't get over how thin she was! She certainly wouldn't need to lose any weight to play an anorexic. I would describe Karen Carpenter as being pretty in a wholesome way, and so I wouldn't cast any of those actresses who are super glamorous. That's just my opinion.

I saw that movie a few years ago and it was sad. I thought it was told and acted well, it shouldn't be remade. If it were, I think Winona Ryder would be great in the role of Karen Carpenter.

I saw the movie when it came out. If I remember right they said that the actress who played her (cynthia gibbs) was wearing Karen Carpenters clothes to film it. It should be remade for the big screen.

i saw the movie and i found it very sad! she was such a great performer and her brother is still very much into music today.
i think the movie was pretty good so i doubt if there would ever make another karen carpenter story.
actresses who might be able to play her today with the right hair coloring and make up would be: ashley judd, winona ryder, penelope cruz or maybe even keira knightley.....even jamie lee curtis if she were a little younger.

I think it was very well done I only wish Karen was alive today she had with out a doubt the most beautiful voice I have ever heard and that includes the likes of Streisand.

yeah - I saw it - it was a tv movie.
It could be made into a pretty gritty story for a wider audience if someone like cameron crowe did it like almost famous, but it would have to be really serious despite the musical elements.
Seems biographies, esp musical ones are still doing okay in the box office.

yes i have seen it....why retell the story? it is what it is... make a similar movie telling the story about some of these models and others that have gone through the same thing. do you think that is how her family wants her to be remembered?

I thought the movie portrayed her accurately, and there is no need for a remake. I miss her singing.
