Yes there is. But there can never be a traditional war on terrorism! A never ending sinkhole for money! Republicans seem to like it though!
I'll defer to an old comrade who is no longer with us thanks to agent orange. He was a col with 5 Silver Stars and 6 Purple Hearts, and 2 DSC's!
"And what the hell is terrorism, anyway? It's not a thing; it's not a place; it's not a person. It is a political and military strategy, that's all. Having a 'War On Terrorism' is as ridiculous as having a 'War on Flanking Maneuvers'. You'll end terrorism when there's no longer anything for anybody to get pissed off about."
"As for now, maybe if we looked at why people are pissed at us, we'd begin to understand. Hell, it doesn't matter whether they're right or wrong; it's what they perceive that motivates them. What you have to address is why they perceive things as they do. Only then will you start to get a clue. And spare me the bullshit about them hating us because of our freedom. We haven't been truly free in a long time. And now we're letting all this demagoguery convince us to give up what little liberty we have left."

I believe there is an eminent threat of nuclear escalation. Terrorism is just a catch word for people who fight a war without the official support of a recognized government.
It always bleeds over to full scale invasion of countries.
I believe there will be a nuclear exchange in the future unless we do something to prevent it by changing the way we and others think.
My reason for thinking this is because history has shown that any weapons man has created have always been used on men.

I think that there is a threat but not at the level currently being touted by Washington. Not to take anything away from the people who died on 9/11 or their survivors but the way I see it is that somebody got lucky and was able to carry out a suicide attack with some stolen jets. It wasn't worth it in scale to declare war on terrorism and spend billions of $$$ on a war and overthrow a dictator who was contained.Look around the world at the acts of violence they're crude attacks with guns and explosives. I do think they (terrorists) would like to have a equal playing field if they could get nukes and chemical weapons and use them but I think it would be pretty hard to carry out now since we are more aware of the growing threat situation in the world. What worries me more is our dealings with a communist nation and supporting their growing military capabilities by having them make all our cheap goods and having a record trade deficit with them because they won't adjust their currency because they're building up their military with the cash that should be coming to us (USA).

Absolutely there is a threat of terrorism, there is actual terrorism happening almost daily somewhere in the world and this has long been the case.
I think that corporate inbreeding has once again created a lot of sneaky monopolies. ATT ring any bells? The consolidation of media ownership, and the view they favor can be readily seen if you view who they actually are, and how much they annually contribute , and to whom.
Orwell was quite the visionary.
I read a lot.

I believe the threat is real, although not especially severe.
It's a real threat in the same way that a girl is a real physical threat to a boy: the possibility exists that she could beat him up with a powerful enough strike in the right place, but overall, she probably doesn't have enough sheer power to be a real threat.
p.s. It's not sexist, it's just a physiological fact that girls are, for the most part, less strong than boys.

Yes.
Because the Iranian leader has said that he'd like to nuke the U.S. and Israel and the North Korean leader has said pretty much the same thing about nuking the U.S.
Then there's the fact that Al Quaida is alive and well and the fact that Hamas has arrogantly stated that they don't believe Israel has a right to exist. London has been attacked, and of course, Spain was attacked and then they gave their lunch money to the bully.
Oh, and then there was the whole 9/11 incident... though many believe that even that was an inside job by Colonel Mustard in the parlor, with the candlestick. Or some such conspiracy theory...

Yes, there is a real threat! People are sneaking into our boarders everyday and nothing is really being done to stop it. The "terrorist" can come in just as easy as the people crossing the boarder everyday. If they can smuggle themselves across the can also smuggle weapons.

some people in the USA don't care cause they are more interested in getting plastic surgery or a new botox injection and siliconed lips/mamaries. most people in the USA don't even vote and don't care but if something should happen they are gonna scream bloody murder "WHY didn't the President Do Something "!!!!
I figure we will get what we deserve.
Useless begets useless
Libs ooze whine and self loathing therefore they hate AMERICA.... maybe it's cause America stands for freedom..... only Freedom gives the whiners a voice.... only freedom allows whiners not to join the military . Big talkers and small wankers stick together..... hmmm, and how is Michael Moore these days ?

Yes. Terrorism continues. If you want the facts, you have to follow local news sources from the countries. You won't find it in the western press unless it is a spectacular success.
