I observed a piece of writing in prevalent Mechanics about 8 to 10 years in the past and they were showing a flying motor vehicle that operated with electric powered fan autos for existence and thrust, yet I in no way heard any extra about it. It had a 250 mile decision and a cruising % of one hundred thirty mph. It also stated it would want to take off interior of 40 5 feet and land interior of 30 feet, so that you would possibly want to carry off out of your driveway and land in a carpark. the time is coming, besides the undeniable fact that it truly is extremely no longer for quite some years because if it were me, i does no longer fly one till that they had all the insects out of it. Oh and one extra ingredient, it had a protection parachute in case the electric powered autos or power failed. that can make me slightly uneasy. LOL

A few years ago, someone did just that. He took a Ford Pinto Runabout, added all the cockpit stuff and drove it around the city, and on to the airport where he drove up under the wings, tightening down a few clamps, he drove out onto the runway to 60mph and started the engines on the wings, after a brief roll to gather air speed he took off. He made several successful flights... But one day, one of his clamps failed and the whole thing came tumbling down, Killing the pilot and his passenger. To date I have not heard of anyone trying to duplicate his efforts.

Because thrust doesn't overcome drag, and lift doesn't overcome gravity.
