I thought the LG meant LG Electronics, which would be the manufacturer of the phone. LG in LG Electronics does stand for "Life's Good". So, your friend is right.

South Korean LG Group which produces electronic products but the previous company name was Lucky-Goldstar. Before the corporate name change, many electronic products were sold under the brand name Goldstar, while some other household products (not available outside South Korea) were sold under the brand name of Lucky. The Goldstar brand is still available but is a lower quality brand than the "LG" brand. LG is now one of the leading producers of electronics in the world. Their advertisements encourage people to assume that LG stands for "Life's Good", but this is a backronym.

I have several clients that works for LG here in Lincolnshire,Il. and I am also korean.

Hi yancibooo, The fact of the matter is, LG does stand for Life's Good which is the new name they chose back in 1995, before that they were Goldstar. Have a great day!

LG stands for Lucky Goldstar, it's original name.
"Life's Good" is only a slogan.
Anyways, as they are usually referred to as LGE...
Life's Good Electronics would make no sense.

It is Lucky-Goldstar Electronics .
In the 90's it was abbreviated to LG for branding and LGE for most other uses, with the new logo the L G in a circle, as copmared to the old Goldstar with a small crown with GS in small letters.

Life's Good which is the caption for LG is just for advertisement, So you were right...

LG Group is a large South Korean chaebol (conglomerate), which produces electronics (including domotics), mobile phones, and petrochemical products and operates subsidiaries like LG Electronics.

Created in 1947 as "Lucky-Goldstar", it assumed the abbreviated name of "LG" in 1995. LG is also an abbreviation of "Lucky Geumseong" (럭키금성) in South Korea, which is translated into English as Lucky Goldstar. Before then, many electronic products were sold under the brand name Goldstar, while some other household products (not available outside South Korea) were sold under the brand name of "Lucky." The Lucky brand was famous for producing household cleaning products and laundry detergents in South Korea. Before massive industrialization of South Korean society, the name Lucky was synonymous with toothpaste (similar to Kleenex referring to a facial tissue paper).

The default code is the last 4 digits of the mobile number attached to that phone. However, if the code has been changed, you can try to reset it to the last 4 of the phone number by dialing *228 send, and choosing option 1. Unfortunately, this doesn't work on all phones, but it's worth a shot.
