Outside, put cornmeal around the mound. They will take it to the queen and explode on the way. Cornmeal has worked every time I've used it.
Inside, set out a mixture of sugar and salt. They'll carry both away, but the salt will kill them. Animal food bowls: put a band of glue from a glue-stick around the bottom of the bowl... next sprinkle ground cinnamon into the glue band, so that there is a ring of cinnamon around the bottom of the food bowl... ants hate cinnamon.
I found these tips last summer in a book called Trowel and Error, by Sharon Lovejoy. I have tried the cinnamon and cornmeal tips and both work!

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.

First you need to clean up any sweets that you have lying around. Then keep your counters clean for about 3 days and they will eventually go away cuz there will be nothing to keep them coming. You may also wan to invest in some type of insecticide.

sugar water, spray it on a spot outside, take a tooth pick and sugar water and make a trail from the ants to outside.

i had the same problem. there are these things they sell where there is poisoned food inside this thing. when the ants go in there and get the poisoned food, they take it their queen. then, their queen dies, and they slowly begin to die. it worked for me, should work for u.
