absolutely, it just depends on the animal you are breeding. Many dogs will sell for hundreds of dollars, so if you get a pure bred animal the puppies can make you quite a profit. Of course, you need to find an animal of the same breed and opposite sex, and if you dont buy the animal yourself you will need to pay a fellow breeder for "use" of the animal. I would suggest getting yourself a female, just so you have control over any young produced. Snakes and lizards can also be bred for good money, as well as horses, cats, and basically anything that is used as a pet.

If you only breed one, large, successful litter, or for one foal, maybe. If you breed for a lifetime, or even over a few years, no. Eventually you will have to pay out for c-sections, birthing issues, sick animals, etc. Not to mention basic shots, and health care for the babies. If you are responsible you should have OFA testing done on all breeding dogs. You should do something with them to prove whatever you are breeding is "useful". You don't have to show, but maintaining membership in breed associations, going to show and maintaining contact with current trends and issues in the breed shows your commitment to the breed. Doing agility, obedience, flyball, etc shows that your dogs are both physically and mentally correct examples of a breed. Doing trail riding, or clinics with horses show they are sound and safe. In addition to those costs, the money making animals are few and far between. Great racehorses are rare, but ones that never make it out of claiming races are a dime a dozen. Great show dogs are rare, but average pet quality dogs are everywhere. What you make on that one great animal goes to feed, shelter, and provide veterinary care for all of the other animals in the barn, kennel, etc. So, no you don't really make money, as you can see a reputable breeder does it for the love of the breed and animal, and what their breed does.

Most definantly NOT, for starters there is stud fees for servicing, vet fees, when pups come along there is desexing, worming, microchipping, vaccinations, vet checks. You only come out about even. It is not a money making business, you would only do it for the love and betterment of the breed.
All the above + more if you do it the right way and not be a backyard breeder because they only sem to be in it for the money , not the health and quality of the animals.

I just answered your question about breeding Yorkies. Unless you want to be what is know as a back yard breeder who doesn't care what pedigree he breeds to what pedigree and is not concerned for the welfare of his animals, it is not a money-making business.

If you are looking to make money in breeding your dogs or cats, then please don't do it. YOu should do it because you love the breed of your pet and you want to make sure that the good bloodlines and standards of the breed remain.

yes you can. Take these horses that have won a lot of races you can make a fortune for their stud services. Also with cats an dogs if you want to do this for them, dont use them like they do in these puppy mills. Be resonsible about the cats and dogs.
