As far back as I can remember life seemed too short for me. I've had this overwhelming urgency from day one. This has actually been detrimental. I tried shortcut after shortcut in life because I always felt the hand of time so accutely.
I have always felt held back. Chaffed at any kind of time restrictions as unbearable. I would dump an endeavor rather than endure an artificial time restraint. Failed endeavors eat at me like a cancer. If the time was truly wasted it rankles in my gut. Luckily valuable lessons exist in most endeavors. So time is hard to completely waste. Not if your actually attempting something. Failure can provide valuable learning.
Now that I have greatly exceeded my expected lifespan, I actually feel a little more relaxed about it while knowing more accutely that odds are I really don't have that much time left. I've lived my life making many decisions based on not expecting to live this long and some consequences have come to roost. Others inevitably will as well. Every day from here on in I consider as a gift. As extra time here on this Earth that I should earn rather than take for granted. It is my turn to find a way to give back something to a world I've taken so much from. To appreciate so many things I've taken for granted. To do something that leaves the world better for my having been here.

I was 22 or 23. That's when I really realized life is short. The life of a druggy is much shorter, but when you are a druggy you don't care. I did not want that for me, thus I got off drugs. It was hard, so hard, but if I wanted a better quality of life and the longevity to go with it, I'd best clean up my act.
