I know about this one business guy who find a place for them to go. He also feed them too. They ended up love him for it. Sometime you can source your difficult problem with a kindness heart. In the end, he came a winner.

Sad commentary about people today...even to chasing them away...of course they pick that spot because the people going into the store have some means to give them a little something. Unfortunately most of these people are mentally challenged in one way or another...most are from now closed institutions, they have limited perceptions of what is acceptable behavior and what is not...if his customers are so upset by them and his business is suffering so much, then why doesn't he seek some sort of solution with a shelter or area home..even get them a room somewhere and make it a tax write off. I am sure he could raise a few dollars from his customers for them. I am sure they all need another tax shelter or scheme.
Then he would have the "Balm of Charity" for his need to keep his doors clear of the unwashed and unwanted. Is that not what our betters do?

The NY City Shopkeeper has a right to conduct his business and the City of New York needs to address the homeless problem and find decent shelter for people. They should also make Porta Potties available, that would solve the problem of people having to relieve themselves in public. The Shopkeeper needs to post signs No Loitering, to sue homeless people is a waste of time, he will never get them to show up for court.

It's really a crying shame that homeless people are constantly being chased and they don't even know where to go. First of all, in a country as rich as ours, there shouldn't be any homeless people. Still, I wouldn't want ANYONE, man OR animal to perform bodily functions around my property. Second, how can you sue homeless people??? Why do you think they're homeless????

He can get a restraining order against them. Suing them is useless unless they have a family member who is in charge of their well being and money. Then that family member can be sued.
Why should this be the shop keepers job to house these people? He is probably just getting by himself by having his own business. Anyone who ever ran their own business should know it is no cake walk. I say it is the govts. problem. The govt took away public help for them the govt should deal with it.
Otherwise, the real question should be...where are all the good christians at to help these people??

They probably make more in change than the antiques dealer does selling antiques.
I hope he wins, and that they have to pay him out of their little change cups every day for the rest of their lives.
Edit: Nancy D.- Most homeless people WANT to be homeless. They don't want to go to a shelter, they just want to beg for money all day, and then feed their crack or alcohol habit.
I deal with them every day.

I have a soft heart for everyone but.....I can understand where they would be a detriment to business I don't know what the answer would be if they have no place else to be. Its a joke to sue homeless people, the only guy that would make money there is the lawyer. Geez for what you would owe a lawyer you could go buy them a trailer to live in.

Its still a relatively free country.
I'm not so sure the 'bodily functions' should be tolerated but as far as hanging out in front of the store, I don't see any problem.
Instead of trying to forcibly remove them, why not try to help them, after all they are human beings.

Are the homeless people U.S. Citizens? If not, then deport them. If they are, then get them some help. Surely there are outdoor toilets where those people could do their business. And why would they want to hang around his storefront? It would seem to me that homeless people would not want to draw that much attention to themselves and given our vagrancy laws, they could be in a heap of trouble. We need affordable housing for U.S. Citizens and we need jobs for U.S. Citizens. Maybe it would be better if this man gave them a broom and a mop and had them clean the sidewalks for food and a couple of bucks for shelter.

He has the right. They are definitely a deterrant to any business the poor guy's trying to drum up. As a customer, I would have to say that I would think twice about patronizing a business that had people peeing out in front it.
