and exactly how close do you want to get? And given that we can send a spaceship to mars, the moon, titan. and given that we can send a spacecraft to the mysteriously demoted pluto, what makes you think we couldn't strap you to a rocket and shoot you to the sun if we humans so chose?

Traveling to the sun not is possible as no matter in the earth will able to retain sun's extreme heat. Any spacecraft would just vaporize far from sun's surface.
