In the commercial it says it can take the place of daily vacuuming, but does it actually vacuum? If not, is there any cheap vacuum out there that is small? I am about to move into an apartment, and don't have a lot of space or money for a giant vacuum. any advice?

I got this http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=1-5/qid=1169186015/ref=sr_1_5/601-2279251-2325716?ie=UTF8&asin=B0009PRJZU for my DORM ROOM and I love it. It doesn't take up a lot of space and has the power of a full sized vacuum. You can probably find it for less than the target price if you look online. I don't think the swiffe r is an adequate replacement for a real vacuum cleaner.

no it does not vacuum - it sweeps up little bits like a sweeper --- a vacuum has suction (hence 'vacuum') while a sweeper... well, sweeps :) I can't think of a cheap vacuum - I have a dyson and it'll be the last vacuum I ever own. I've wasted too much money on 'cheap' vacuums that last a year or two and then I'm buying another one. GL

The carpet flick doesn't actually vacuum, it just has a sticky sheet inside that pulls up larger particles. I really wouldn't suggest it as a substitute for a full time vacuum.

Walmart sells a new vacuum for $20, I hope that is cheap enough.

im sure for a small rug or carpet it will work also there are cheap carpet/floor vacs very light weight and reasonable. they work on carpet and with the flick of a switch also on hardwood which is good for an apt good luck

it can if you buy alot of the carpet flick pads but I would still get a vaccum for weekend cleaning. The CarpetFlick is made for everyday use but you should still use the for the deep down dirt.
