she was trying to win a nintendo wii on the radio. They were trying to see if anyone could drink the most water to win the wii or justin timberlake tickets. She told the dj's that her head hurt and they just laughed it off.. Moments later she died from water intoxication.A nurse called the station about drinking too much water and how it could make you really sick and possibly die. They did nothing and said that they wouldnt be responsibe for her death.

Yeah. You have some of the details wrong--she actually died hours later--but that's the gist of it.
The news tonight played the tape of the DJs talking about water intoxication and a previous death from it while the contest was going on. The contestants may not have understood the danger, but the DJs clearly did. And when the nurse called to warn them that it could be deadly, they said, "Yeah, we're aware of that. They signed releases so we're not responsible, okay?" (The contestants did not hear this call).
The police have launched a criminal investigation into it. In this case, I think it's warranted.

YEAH,sue GOD for making the deadly water and NOT putting a label on it!I mean it's not like somebody in THE SAME CITY had already DIED of the SAME THING ,oh wait they did . Well maybe when they held a gun to her head she...oh,they didn't do that either,huh? Well she must have been a minor.. uh, nope over 18 with 3 children to think about ,wow .As the good parent I will give her credit for being what woud she have told her 11 year old if someone was holding a contest requiring a WAVIER to be signed -at the very least she would question it ,right? so who is really to blame here?

This is the stuff which gets to my mind.
Drinking too much water WILL NOT KILL YOU!!!!
As Americans we are all typically overweight (1-300+lbs), so the excess water will not do damage to our body. She messed up, Our body needs to release liquids - for example when your nose is clogged - or there is a tickle in your nose you SNEEZE, you exert liquid/dust from your body. Same as pee. You drink to much water you need to pee, If you drink 6Gallons of Water in 1hour.. Guess what, you will either Pee it out or Vomit It out. This lady did not PEE it out. She felt dizzy. all over a WII?
People called in saying you can die, and the station knew, well fear factor knew that some of those stunts are bad, consider this the same. The family is going to sue, I hope they lose serves people right.. Think right... Your life is not worth a $250 wii, which isn't even sold now.

I think the radio station was irresponsible and reckless and the DJ's ruthless and idiotic. And should be severly punished. But the lady is also, reckless and partially to blame. SHe should have known that drinking all that water is not good for you and should know when to stop when you feel you may be hurting yourself. And what she was doing it for was ridiculous, A Nintendo, JT tickets...come on!! I wouldn't drink a glass of water for that crap if i knew it would hurt me!!

Yes and that's so sad. Especially since she was only 28 and had three kids. ;o( I'd think before having a contest like this they would have checked things out a lot better so something like this wouldn't have happened. But of course most wouldn't think drinking water would do any harm. ;o(

The woman's parents should have aborted the woman when they had the chance. Anyone stupid enough to enter a contest for a piece of crap like the Wii doesn't deserve to live.

yes they laughed about it, and didn't do much research about it obviously, they should of had a DR or Nurse available, I believe the radio station should be held responsible...
