Right now I am a student teacher. I obviously am starting to think of where I want to teach for this coming school year, but I do not know when a good time to start applying would be. I live in Pensacola, Florida and want to move to Clearwater or Sarasota.

March and April--towards the end of the school year when teachers are letting the administration know that they are retiring, moving etc. With such teacher shortages in some areas, you can get hired from now until the first day of school. Being a good teacher is what will get you in the door. It isn't necessarily about timing.

I believe best time is definitey now because this way u will have time to apply for different schools and consider various options. Schools do not really tend to accept teacher in the begining of school year only. I should be start teaching in a school soon next month and we are like in the end of the 1st half of the school year. So, do what u can and start applying now cuz u dont know when ur getting a response from the employers. It could take a month, it could take a year. Best of lucks n hope it takes u a short time searching :)

Actually, where I live TODAY is the last day for new teachers to apply to the local Board of Education for 2007-2008 positions. Late applicants might get subbing positions if any are left over, but there's no way someone applying after today would get a full-time or part-time provisional job. First, check the boards' websites. Then, you should contact the boards you want to teach for by sending your resume and cover letter, as if you were applying for a job. If their application procedure is different or they need more information, they'll let you know.

Apply as soon as you can. Your application will be kept on file. As soon as your student teaching is done, get on sub lists for the remainder of the year for any schools still in session. The best way to get a job is from the inside.

Do it no later than Febuary, because schools start to know who is not going to be there after that and begin the interview process.

i think you can apply whenever you get an oppurtunity or whenever you feel like beecause if yu wanna get a job so they are not going to call you . you will have o apply for that so i advise you to apply whenever you get an oppurtunity.
