Actually I find this question interesting
in fact I would have thought most Christians (I purposely - through lack of knowledge - left out other religions) would be the ones NOT to do these kinds of things... because it breaks their commandments to kill someone...
How can someone who murdered someone claim to be a Christian?... simple forgivness :(
So those who don't believe in a God or gods or whatever... may actually be discouraged because they don't have anyone to blame aside from themselves and they don't have anyone to beg forgiveness from (aside from their victim or relatives, etc)..
Interesting... still Athiesm doesn't = easier... nor does it = harder, just different...
and no your not sounding like a psychopath...
also athiesm doesn't have to = self-servitude...
helping people is not just a Christian or other religious thing...
plus helping others may lead to help for yourself in the future...
(karma... possibly?)...
its like those old sayings, you can't learn to love someone else until you learn to love yourself (same with help in place of love there... and a few others...)
So if you choose to be free of religious "restrictions" you may actually find yourself restricting yourself... in fact you'll may even learn WHY the religion frowns on such actions... rather than just being told that they are bad...
I also don't believe there is such a thing as an easy life... different people are different and born into different circumstances and make different choices... too many variables... don't bundle them all into one group unless the situation is that you don't discriminate harshly...
Besides, Christian's treating everyone as they'd wish to be treated can have potholes... ie because people are different, just because you like fish doesn't mean they do to, thus treating them with fish isn't taking the other person into account... it needs to be more explicit...
The wiccan rede is interesting (forgot the exact words but I gathered that it meant harm none or harm will come to you times three... very karmic...)
I follow neither of these practices, nor do I not follow them... but I do wish peace and goodwill to everyone - not just those who follow any particular faith...

Christianity is blind obedience to the child abuse of having been forced to be christian from a very early age. Thankfully so many children use their education and growing intellect to discover the truth and step into reality! It is the Christian victims that are too lazy to look at the truth! Acceptance of a supernatural claim tends to promote cooperative social relationships. This communication demonstrates a willingness to accept, without skepticism, the influence of the speaker in a way similar to a child's acceptance of the influence of a parent. By encouraging this kind of behavior where the most intense social relationships occur it facilitates the lack of skepticism and deters more open minded thinking. They are christian, Muslim or the other religions depending where they were born simply because they were indoctrinated by their parents as very young children. They will go on to indoctrinate their own children and those will go on to indoctrinate their grandchildren! Atheists have the intellect to see through the conditioning and escape into the real world! Agnostics have the intellect to see through the conditioning but lack the courage to throw of the conditioning entirely. Sadly Christians, muslims and others are still held firmly prisoner by the self perpetuating brainwashing!

Yeah, you are a psychopath. If you think that all people are born killers, and robbers, and just all together wicked. And the only way to get yourself to a level of decency and have morals is to follow the sheep and the weak down a road paved with dogma and wickedness. Then the world you live in is pretty sad. My world on the other hand assumes we are born with a clean slate. How ever you choose to pollute it is up to you. Now, there are forces at hand, the forces of good and evil. For lack of a better word lets call it karma. And I believe in ...."What goes around, comes around.".....I have lived so far a moral life. And plan on keeping it that way. As long as I can keep you psychopaths at bay.

I'm not sure I've ever seen any data on athiest criminals, but keep in mind that the vast majority of the planet believes in some sort of god. So, yes, there are very few athiest serial killers, but there are also very few athiest circus clowns. There are very few athiests, period.
As an agnostic, I can tell you that lack of belief in a higher being doesn't mean a lack of morals. If I'm not necessarily worried about an afterlife, I am worried about being able to look myself in the mirror.

See, atheists dont believe in an after life, so they try to make the most out of their real life. Religious folks know that even if they do stupid things, they can just atone later and live eteranally in heaven forever and ever amen. Christians have it especially easy because they just have to say I'm sorry Jesus and thats that. I believe in God I just hate him very much and that makes me do things to keep me out of heaven, and so far Im pretty happy with my life. Yay me. At least I'm baptized and confirmed so if i change my mind I can always get in.

so you're saying for you, if it weren't for God holding heaven and hell in front of you, you'd go and do whatever you wanted and not care about the morality?
morality and a will to do good and be good should be what directs you in life, not what your bible tells you to do so you don't go to hell. and these atheists you're talking about, even though they don't subscribe to the belief in eternal punishment for wrong actions, live without such evil because they simply believe that it is not in the best interests for them or humankind or the world to do such things.

SHORTCAKE>>>>>>>> u need to re-read the question.
it's always the "normal, church attending families that have the weird crimes.just last week a man 30 minutes from where i live, decapitated his 4 year old daughter. he left the child there to be found by her mother. and guess what........they were known as a normal CHURCH attending family.
let us not forget that psycho mom/preachers wife who blasted her hubby in the back with a shotgun.

I don't believe in god. Doesn't mean I have a weak mind, On the contrary, my mind is very strong. I know right from wrong, good from evil..so on and so forth. Just because I don't believe in a fake figure...doesn't make me bad. I would put it to you to think that believing in something you can't prove is in fact a weak mind..
