Often that is caused by anxiety. Is there any stress in your life right? There probably is. I'd talk to your doctor about the stress issue, because it might be useful to try an anti-depressant to help you out a little bit.

Try loosening your pants or skirts, or even your bra (if you wear one). I ever read an article in Reader's Digest that sometimes your clothes might be too tight without you noticing and that restricts your movements as well as your breathing. Try not to wear clothes that are tight.

Another reason may be you lack exercise. Try to do some stretching exercises like opening up your arms or reaching for the sky. These exercises, though simple, may help you expand your lung muscle & release the tension around your chest.

If it still doesn't work, maybe you should get a second opinion from another doctor.
