Anti-virus software is independent or seperate from web browsers, so nothing to do.
I use Opera and Firefox as browsers, and no antivirus program. But that's because I use linux which is relatively immune to viruses anyway. On any windows machine connected to the internet I would suggest antivirus software like Kaspersky or AVG as they are freely available and don't charge for definition updates. Norton used to be good and at that time didn't charge for definition updates. I also would install anti adware/spyware software. Though just using mozilla as opposed to IE greatly reduces exposure to adware and spyware.

Yes, Norton still offers the same poor detection while consuming major amounts of system resources whether you are using IE or FF.

You are using mozilla firefox not mozilla. Mozilla is a complete internet suite that was discontinued some time ago.
Yes, I think Norton works on it although i am not sure.
I switched to linux ages ago.

Yes, it will work just fine. Firefox in itself is much more secure than IE. I use firefox and no antivirus and I haven't had a virus in over 2 years. Literally.
