Can you do this? why not? the numbers themselves are easy to recall. but column math and in your head math dont work out

add 456 to 456 in your head

isnt that hard enough to do? its only 3 numbers

alright i'm down to 2 add 77 to 77

still doin that column addition in your head? it hurts, not entirely user friendly

Try this below

456
456 simple pattern easy on the head

At this point adding 0 to 9 to itself should be quickly second nature. with specific note on 5 and above because it causes jumps.examples 3+3=6, 4+4-8 but note while 5+5 will equal a zero and create jump, 7+7 makes a 4 and create jump, 9+9 is 8 and a jump

If old school was a carryover then I guess this way is a jump

so this is how I can see the numbers

visualize

456
456
work left to right

think 4+4 plus a jump 9 say nine
think 5+5 plus a jump is a 1 say one
think 6+6 makes a 2 say two.
I said the answer I'm done.

Do you see? Practice then you can do your phone number.

I find it much easier to convert my phone number to binary then shift it to the left by one bit and convert back to base 10. Works every time...

Seems like I'm getting requests every day for twice my phone number. I guess just giving out your phone number on its own is passé and now everyone wants it doubled. For this reason, I'm sure your method will come in very handy.

For others that have this problem, you may want to just figure it out once and remember the doubled number. Or perhaps talk to your phone company and see if they can print it in the phone book doubled. That will save people having to ask you directly.

By they way, your method works because you will never have to worry about a carry of 2. If someone starts asking for our phone numbers tripled however, we're doomed!
