3^-1 = 1/3 and 3^-2 = 1/9
so 1/3 / 1/9 = 9 / 3 3= 3
2)
4.1 x 10^1 = 41
41 x 3.5 = 143.5

1. 3, 3^-1 is the same thing as saying it is 1/3 and 3^-2 is the same thing as 1/9. SO when u have 1/3 divide by 1/9, which is 3.
2. 143.5, simply multiply 3.5 x 4.1 x 10 since 10^1 equals 10.

=1/3 * 9

2) 3.5*4.1*10^1
= 3.5*41

You could also have said 3^-1/3^-2 = 3^(-1-(-2)) = 3^1 = 3

1) the first one is solved by 3^-1 equals 0.3 and 3^-2 equals 0.03 and (0.3 x 0.03 = 0.009)
2) it's multiplication so you can multiply 3.5 x4.1 first, then multiply by 10. (3.5 x 4.1 = 14.35) and then multiply 14.35 by 10 which means (14.35 x 10 = 143.5) so your answer is 143.5

sorrie i dont know how to do the first question but the answer to the second problem is..
178.5
since 3.5 times 5.1 equals 17.85 and 10^1 is just plain ten.. 17.85 times 10 = 178.5
