I'm on Lab 3 Mitosis and Meiosis and I don't really understand it...like how does mitosis differ in pland and animal cells?? any help?? thanks!

The basic difference would be when the cell splits. In animals a membrane forms between the halves of the cell and pinches off. In plants a cell wall is formed instead. Other than that it's pretty much the same. DNA duplicates, condenses, lines up, splits, nuclei reform with DNA inside, cell separates, and now there are two...well, in mitosis anyway.

To understand the differences in mitosis between plant and animal cells, you need to think about the differences in the structures between these two cell types. Plant cells have rigid cell walls, while the cellular membrane surrounding animal cells is much more flexible. Because of this, cytokinesis is different in animal and plant cells. the main difference lies in the last phase when the cells split in 2.
in animal cell, a cleavage furrow forms and the cells "pinch off" each other.
in plant cells, a 'new' cell wall forms between the 2 and that's the way it splits.
otherwise, the other steps/phases are the same for both.
