There are many in the world who believe that the shoe is currently on the other foot. A small footnote to history. The United States held the pink slip on Great Brittan until about two weeks ago when they retired their war debt from WW2, or at least said they wold be making the payment, "the cheques in the mail".

The United States and Great Britain buried the hatchet so to speak in the mid 1800s and the close relationship continues to this day. The two countries are aligned in ways the common citizen can only guess about. Militarily, economically, and intelligence operations wise they function almost as one. Look at Iraq in 2007.
