0 . 0 0 4 3 2 = 4 . 3 2 x 10^ - 3

the dot has gone through 3 numbers to reach between 4 and 3 do the power is negative 3 since we moved backward

u wrote 4.32x10^-5 and not ^-3

You're counting from the 2 to the left

You count from wherever you place the decimal, which in this case is the 4, so then you go... one space, two space, three space

sooo it's 4.32 x 10 ^ -3

Your answer is like saying 432.0 x 10 ^ -5 which is impossible

Scientific notation must always be between 1 and 10

yep it is 4.32 X 10^-3 but what you have is a -5 so is it a typo on the computer or a typo on the problem.

Ok so like u know how to change it into notation because its a decimal one
u would move 3 times to the left because u want an integer as the whole number and then however many times u moved from left to right..it is negative wise

dear holly
you have to move the decimal point so that have a.bcd... x 10^f. where a must a number between 1-9. it must be single digit and cannot be 0.

in this case you have to move the decimal point 3 places in to your right side(actually it means you are deviding by 1000). so you'll get 4.32 x 10^-3

Write 0.00432 in scientific notation....
Move the decimal point three places to the right getting:
4.32
Moving thedecimalpoint 3 places to the right multiplied the number by 1000 = 10^3. S o you must now multiply it by 10^-3 which divides it by 1000 restoring it to its original value.
So final result is 4.32X10^-3

You stated the correct answer but wrote 4.32X10^-5

4.32 x 10 ^ (-3) is correct, but you put -5 in your answer, instead of -3

4.32x10^-3 otherwise its 432.00x10^-5 which is impossible because the number can only be 1-9 (no '0' or double digets)
