There is a provision that allows for cancelling if you move 35 miles away. What proof would be needed? Also, my wife is pregnant. Would that be enough of a medical reason to cancel?

Have your doctor write a medical reason why you can not continue with the gym membership. I said stress was my reason and sent the letter with the doctor's signature written on his note paper.

If you have a family doctor you could ask him to do you a favor, and give you a written note saying that you are unable to exercise for whatever reason he can come up with, that would more than likely do the trick, otherwise, I don't see how you can cancel your contract....and no, your wife being pregnant is not a medical reason....you could suddenly suffer from dizzy spells and fainting with physical stress though....Good Luck.

just get a copy of a utility bill from a friend that wouldn't mind, and that lives >35 miles away. doctor it up to have your name on it

then go in, tell them you just moved and you would like to cancel, and if they ask for proof, the bill should be enough

Get your Doctor to write you a note stating that, at this time, you are unable to do the gym thing. Depending on your membership agreement....Read the terms of membership. On mine, it says I can cancel with a dr's note. Good luck

It depends on your gym. At my previous gym I had to show them either a lease with my name on it or a bill such as a cable bill that says my name on it with the new address. The pregnant thing depends on the gym, you should contact them about it. I know they would cancel it for HER but i'm not sure about you. You might have to pay the cancellation fee.

i'm not sure what proof you'd need...maybe a new bill with your name on it at the new address? my gym has similar provisions, and if you just explain your situation, maybe they will sympathize. My gym is smaller, that's the only reason i say it might work.

Walk in on crutches and tell them you can't go to the gym for 6 months.

Well that gym sure knows how to make money...sue the gym...or sell your membership to someone else?

Maybe if you didn't " act right" they would ask you to leave.
