My baby is 5 months and is sleeping through the night but I still lack sleep because I keep checking on her. During the day I zone out and forget things all the time. I'm sure it's a combination of hormones and your sleep patterns being out of whack.

Do you mean depressed by "ditzy" ? If so , it could be post delivery blues. You'll be fine soon. If you are forgetful and dizzy , you need more sleep . Try and sleep while your baby is taking a nap during the day and make sure you take a good miltivitamin and plenty of green leafy veggies. Your haemoglobin count might be low.

Yes! Don't be so hard on yourself! We all become absent-minded when we become mothers. My oldest is three, and I show no signs of getting it together! If by ditzy you do mean sad, don't wait more than a few weeks before you get help, because your baby needs a happy mom. Thankfully, an airhead mom won't hurt him!

Yes. My mind has gone.

I can only hope it will come back once I start getting more than 3 consecutive hours of sleep. However I don't know when that will be since this is my first and I plan to have more. Also at 10 months he is still a night waker. *sigh*

Oh yeah... I swear my IQ has dropped by at least half.

Even though my son is sleeping through the night, I'm still exhausted, and that, I've found, makes you idiotic. Throw in the hormones that are still out of control and you have yourself a mommy who can barely put complete sentences together and has the attention span of a nat.

Its caused by a combination of lack of sleep and hormones. Don't worry, once bubs starts sleeping the night through it'll get better.
