No, divorce shouldn't be banned. That's a rather silly idea. Ever since there have been marriages, there have been divorces...or living situations that are the same as divorces. Back when divorces were much harder to get, there were plenty of husbands and wives who lived apart. Both parties would have been happier if they'd been able to get a divorce. Divorces are already expensive enough, I think. I've seen siblings go through divorces, and inlaws. Divorces have quite enough barriers to them. Perhaps we should go back to requiring a waiting period before marriage, though. I don't think that it's totally unreasonable to require a couple to wait a week or so before getting married, unless one or another is about to be deployed. I think that maybe we should be making marriage harder to get into, not get out of. Marriage shouldn't be an impulse activity.

Sure- get a divorce like the other 50% of the population that feels that it's better to bail on your marriage than to try and work on it. Why do people think that marriage is a piece of cake? It takes lots of work....people just don't want to put the time and effort into it.

My husband is fighting my divorce too. I just hired an attorney, had the papers filed in court. He can argue what he thinks he should get in court. Problem is in my situation, he had the house in his name too and we were not married long enough for me to have any rights to it (lived there 6 years, married 3).
Just go to an attorney and fight it out in court. He's playing with you and keeping you financially responsible for everything.

Contact you local Legal Aid Office. they are in every state and most counties. they go on a sliding scale, so its free to most people. look in your phone book, call your county court clerks office or your states Bar Assoc for the number.
they will know what to do and all of your options (the laws in your state).
questions; if you want to dig a bit to find out some laws in your state, here are some links. just click on your state and find the subject you need.

Keep the jewelry and give him nothing. Let your attorney handle his excuses.
