Sometimes good intentions lead to evil effects, and vice versa. An individual's conscience is the only judge of good and evil in intentions and effects. But do not try to judge another as good or evil only by the effects of their actions, you must judge their intentions. People who try to do good but do evil may be fools, or cursed, but that doesn't make them evil.

very tracherous question. The measurment of an act as Good / Bad is relative.
i would say how your actions effect others or in the more people in general is the true measurement of Good & Bad. If a few terrorists are killed to save or secure millions it is certainly good.
Of course, an action may be taken in good faith but may have drastic consequences - Hitler thougtht he is doing for the good of German People, that was the reason many supported him. In this case there must be some moral codes to limit the Robin Hood effect.
Another good example of relative good/bad doing is fatherhood.
I descipline my son and sometimes I am too harsh on him so that he gets good grades and prepared himself to become a successful citizen. But I feel that I do have to avoid that little over indulgence hence I would create hatred between us.
In conclusion, I think it is the end result that matters. The American Civil war resulted in the Unification of USA - I think it was a good thing. But then again it is difficult to say if the Nuclear Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki was better than the deaths of may be many more if the war was not halted.
Confused I am... May the lord give the strength patience and integretiy to do the right thing. Amen

Good and Bad almost always depends on the context and on ones perspective.
If you see someone cutting up a baby, you might think that bad. But if the context is a surgeon doing an operation, then it might be good.
An optimistic view might be that if everyone truly listened to that inner something that tells us when something is good or bad, and if we all tried to understand eachothers perspectives, then there would be a lot less bad in the world.
While I try to hold onto the optimistic view, I suspect that we can never fully understand all the contexts and all the other valid perspectives that exist, and so we can never completely escape the experience of bad. There will always be someone cutting up a baby for reasons we don't understand. (Of course, too often there is no good reason -- but even if there always was -- we just can't understand everything and so...) Such is our fate.

What may appear to be wrong may be right in some situations. For instance, infanticide (murder of infants) is probably considered one of the most heinous crimes. However, to hunter/gatherers who could not sustain larger populations, infanticide was a way to preserve their way of life. Is that wrong? Furthermore, Spartans killed children in droves if the children were non-desirables. This seems wrong to us, but then we're now considering genetic selection as a way to weed out birth defects. What's right and what's wrong can be very blurry if you ask me. It seems that each culture determines its values, and even though cultural relativism is logically weak, it's simply how we function as humans; we say something is wrong because our society in a certain time period believes it is so.
Universal ethics can most clearly answer the question of what is right and wrong by applying the categorical imperative (can a rule be applied across the board), but the rules get broken down and so detail/case specific that it really becomes impractical (read The Case of the Inquiring Murderer from Kant's philosophy, for example).

In philosophical thinking, reality is related with subjectively and objectively. Good , bad beauty, justice etc are eternal truths or subjective truths .subjective truths are to be elevated with the persons views and values.values I mean which he had accrued and computed and keeps with his conscience.so what is good for a person is may not be good for another.what is beauty is not beauty for another.so the differentiation point for good and bad or the neutral point will vary according with the person.because of this we cannot draw a differentiate line between good and bad, truth and false with a rigid rule. what we can see, touch feel etc are objective truths. This can be evaluated more precisely.Fire can be evaluated with relation of temperature and light and its after effect.Object can be evaluated with its weight, size, usage etc. This will be more similar to others decision.
So for a proper result an enquiry has to be evaluated according to subjectively, objectively and third personal view with a good conscience or 6Th sense which makes human being higher than an animal.
To differentiate good and bad one has to make his on personal value and a good conscience which is more helpfull to the society and universe.

Life isnt about just Good and Evil..
Not all aspects can be classified into these categories strictly..
Qualities are not just black and white..There are grey areas that we cannot ignore..
It is all situational..
To discriminate, the intention behind the act and the consequence of the act are the factors that have to be considered.

You have echoed whats been going through my mind in the last 3 days. I don't think there is a right and wrong. I think most of it is interpretations. Maybe people find it harder to differentiate when they are depressed because they don't trust what they actually feel and think others are right.
I dunno. My Aunt said to me today that the bible says what is good and bad and faith gives you belief in yourself. I am not saying this is true or untrue just that maybe we all need faith in a religion or alternatively in themselves to find the answers.

Hi,
I think that in a continues process ,the human being reduced the inner violence and be came social.
They decided no harms to others and be safe.
This good.
some are still harming to others for their safety.
This is bad.
If any one stops making blood in others body for selfishness ,this will be an evil.
If you you use your blood on others happy life,it will be a NOBLE.
Thanks
Adityanoble(Noble also)
