Well on the news today a drug ring in Harlem NY was busted with a 24 million dollar shipment of illegal substances (as well as ak-47s and all the rest) However these kinds of incidents are becoming the exception in the big cities. Crime has been at a record low in the big cities around the U.S. but it is dramatically increasing in the suburbs. Gang activity, theft, drug use, and murder are all increasing rapidly in American suburban neighborhoods, in the once quietest and most peaceful communities. Why the turn around?

That's where all the people are, cities are shrinking and suburbs are growing. People flee the city because of crime, so the crime follows them.

The first and most dramatic improvement is showing up where the conditions were worst, and therefore efforts at change are greatest. It was in the most violent neighborhoods that school uniforms and other anti-gang measures were first and most strongly implemented.
Thus it became harder to carry out major crime in the cities, and easier by comparison in other places.
The good-conduct movement will continue, and will be spreading into the suburbs too. It is the trend.
Perhaps we are creating national unity.
