We moved from a warm climate ,actually too warm for most.. We are now almost 9000 ft higher and so much more colder. We live in a rural place on the side of a mountain..We keep most of what we need here so we don't have to go to town, which is pretty lame because its so small that it just makes our needs such as items we need.Everybody calls here and says why aren't you out skiiing and four wheeler riding. We are in our fifities now so if you answer bare that in mind..Hopefully you will say what you feel but think in your minds that you are fifty..ok? But if you have everything you needed and have explored the mountains in the springtime and pretty much traveled everywhere you ever wanted to,and you really have no reason to go anywhere.Could you are do you stay in and stay at home as much as possible or do you go snag a snowmobile and get out in the cold and just stay on the road..Is is abnormal to want to just hang out at home?Ok remember in your 50's imagaine ok..coming from a warm one.

Oh yeah forgot to add 3 feet of snow with snow every other day and you haven't seen the ground since before dec..and everybody thinks you are nuts for not getting out more? I don't feel like we are but is there anyone anyone out there that would stay in and risk cabin fever or is there 50 and 60 years olds that would be playing in the snow everyday ?

Hey there!! I am in my fifties and used to live in the North Woods of Wisconsin. I stayed home by the fire as much as I could and loved it. I used to make a nice pot of venison stew and dumplings and keep the fireplace burning and the wood furnace cranked. I love being snowed in. it is awesome if you have someone that you care about snowed in with you. If you don't like your roomie much you could get a little squirrely I guess. I don't snowmobile or ski but I did a little four wheelin' and that was fun as long as I had a good heater in the jeep. You aren't abnormal, you just have a lot of wisdom. Enjoy your life and 'don't worry, be happy'!

Do what makes you happy. I lived in a cold climate for a long time. I liked venturing out occassionally, because there are some things to see that you just don't see when it is warm. But most of the time, I preferred to be indoors, watching wildlife from the windows with my hot tea in my hands. And I wasn't 50 years old. I was in my 20's-30's. There is nothing wrong with staying in. If you feel that old cabin fever coming on......go out and.......play:) No one will know if you lie down in the snow and make a snow angel.........or build a snow man.........or if it's just too cold, build a snow bunny....that's what I did once. It was too cold to stay out any longer than that. Home is where I am most comfortable. I have the things that I like to do here, I have lots of things to keep me occupied....so what is wrong with staying in?? I do:) Enjoy your winter wonderland view. I miss it sooooo much:(

Sounds like you've picked a nice spot to hibernate!! There's just one thing you really need to do. Go out tomorrow around noon and build you the biggest snow man and woman you can muster! Put it near a window so you can enjoy your handy work.
Then go back in and build you a nice big fire in the fireplace and enjoy your view with a nice big cup of hot chocolate! Don't forget the marshmallows! Wish I were there!! Enjoy!

When it gets that cold, I do not enjoy being out at all. For me, it is best to curl up with a good book by the fire. Have lived in higher elevation for 25 years and when the temps dip below 20, I have no desire to go out and freeze in the name of fun.
