I know jap cars are better but I still won't buy one.

There are AMERICANS that need jobs putting together the Fords and Chevs I own.
I can't stab them in the back.
I do wish they would do a better job building the darn things though.

I wasn't specifically looking to buy a foreign car but I went with a Honda Civic over other cars because it got better gas mileage than its American counterparts. Ten years later and this car is still running like a champ. I would buy another Honda in a heartbeat.

Oh... and I am from Detroit.

Lets see Nissan Toyota Honda BMW MERCEDES BENZ and now Hyundai make cars in the US now so I guess they buy them cause they like them. The Big 3 are finally starting to get that people want quality, style, and performance so have gained some ground back.

i own a repair shop, and they buy them most of the time because they dont want to spend a lot on repair bills, that and some of them have a good reputation of lasting real good and the price sometimes helps out on their buying decision,,those are the main reasons,,and word of mouth from other people talking about how good their car is helps with this also,,who knows all the reasons ,,everyone has there own opinion,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

i drive a Chevy metro and love it tho poorly made its a fun car and they got that aveo thing for a cheap price but Honda has the fit with more safety features than what Chevy offers on the aveo so i might buy a Honda next due to the standard safety

Value. Informed people want the best value for their money. Japanese cars provide that.

It has also forced our car makers to start improving so they can stay in business.

Without the competition, they would still be making junk. (some STILL make junk)

Quality and reliability.

However, I'm considering a domestic again as the quality leeches at the "former" big 3 aren't being so stingy anymore.

They believe that "the grass is greener" if it's not being purchased because they actually like it.

Fortunately, domestic cars are just as reliable as their foreign counterparts and also equally priced.
