Do you think Isam is a peaceful religion ? and why ?

some say it is, and others say it isn't...... Why is it so.....

No it isn't. Some British group came out with an undercover documentary where they filmed Islamic preachers in British mosques where they preached that infidels should be slaughtered and Jews should be wiped off the face of the earth. They said that homosexuals and Christians should be crucified and left on the wood to bleed for 3 days.

Yes, Islam is a peaceful religion. I have seen many people reference the Qur'an on this site, particularly verses declaring war against infidels. What these people refuse to acknowledge is the fact that the Qur'an is nothing more than an extension of the Old Testament and the New Testament. Infidels refer to anyone who does not believe in God(Allah, same being). They were attacking those you had strayed from the right path, just as the Jews did in the Old Testament. Both actions occurred hundreds of centuries ago.

In regard to Islam today, yes, it is still a peaceful religion. There are a few people who have perverted the word as a way to sway disenfranchised youth to fight for their cause. It should be said that Islam has over one billion members world wide, and the vast majority of those people have no connection to terrorism and those who preach it.

Well, according to Islam you can pretty much do anything as long as it's to an infidel and that includes lying, so why believe them if they say they don't support their own religion which includes jihad. If they studied about their beliefs they might feel differently or maybe more extreme. I just don't feel like being there when they want to cut someone's head off to "express" their delicate feelings.

I've actually never heard of Isam!
Islam, on the other hand is, as a religion, peaceful, but it's followers seem to include some very violent fanatics.
Most religions, however have violent fanatics.
Eg the crusades were Christian fanatics and were they ever a bunch of violent rapists and murderers!

All religions are generally peaceful.

However Islam has been hijacked by murderous thugs.

Hopefully the real Muslims that worship the true Islamic religion will stand up and denounce those that are using it to wage war.

i say it is a peaceful relegion,,,
ppl of other beliefs had used their relegion as a reason to kill,,,the same is happening to Islam,,,it's actually a matter of intentions and not the relegion,,,you do something for a reason,,and ppl killing others and using their relegion as a reason are stoooopid,,

in Islam,,or i think any other kind of belief will sure teach the followers to DEFEND their relegion if ATTACKED,,,

the media is not doing any good to Islam,,,

true Muslims should stick to Al-Quranul karim and Prophet Muhammad's (sallalahu alaihi wasalam) sunnahs,,,, get on the right track (fi sabilillah) and we can be like it was once in Madinah al-Munawwarah ( the radiant city) where ppl of different beliefs live in peace and harmony,,and Prophet Muhammad was the leader,,

It most definitely is. The Koran(Quran) teaches people to live peacefully among all men. When you hear of radical Islamists, it doesn't represent the entire religion of Islam. There are kooks in every religion. Some journalists and/or extremists, take parts of the Quran and piece them together with other parts or take words out of context just like they do with other religions. Unfortunately, because of 911, Islamic followers have come under constant scrutiny. If you are interested, you can read the Quran in English for yourself. Keep in mind, it is divided into chapters just as any other Book is.

The answer probably lies in regionalism rather than in religion itself.

The muslims in the middle east is much more benign than the jews in israel. The israelis are currently acting like Hitler and committing the same crimes as hitler did to them.

So, it is not whether islam is peaceful or not, it is a question as to how people rect when their homland is taken away and subjected to inhumane treatments.

In theory it might be. In practice, it usually seems to be violent. Islam originally spread by the sword. Islam as practiced in Iran, Saudi Arabia among other places is extremely violent & intolerant.

Theory isn't very important when someone is chopping your head off while invoking the name of his God.

I BELIEVE ISLAM IS A PEACEFUL RELIGION. ISLAMIC RADICALS, HOWEVER, ARE NOT PEACEFUL. WE TEND TO LOOK AT WHAT THE VIOLENT ACTIONS OF THE MUSLIMS AND FORGET ABOUT THE RELIGION.
