stay away from porn sites. And try taking some programs off of your startup list.

First download a anti-virus program there are several good free programs out there.
Also download an anti spyware program and get the updates for both of them.
Run both programs preferably in Safe mode
Then go to the All Programs>accessories>System tools and run Disk Clean up. Then after that is done defrag the computer.
that should help speed it up considerably
Incidently you should run the Anti-spyware 2 times to clean out any spyware located on your system
Good luck.

Did you try running disc clean up and the defrag program? I have a Dell and that usually solves the problem.

Also if you have any games on there that are not being used I would take them off too since they take up a lot of space and can slow your computer down.

Good Luck :)

You can try defragmenting the hard drive, or even try formatting it. I usually do either every six months and it runs pretty fast for the specs. But also don't use any of the programs that claim to speed up your cpu/ram or anything. They are just most likely going to crash your comp or infect it with spyware.

How old is your computer ?? It might be best to just purchase a good one now. They are not that expensive .. Otherwise, your only other choice is to try to "Overclock" your chip .. which I don't know how to do. Also, if you can increase the amount of RAM you have in your computer .. it would help. You didn't say what kind of chip you are running, if you have a seperate video card, or how much RAM you have (?) Let us know. Good Luck ! :)

get a type of program called an optimizer for your windows. it should optimize your settings and everything, i can recommend tuneup utilities 2007. take some things off of your start up list. you should defragment your hardrives, i recommend using diskeeper. you should also compact and defrag your registry, i recommend registry mechanic. any questions? email me at puertorican_papi_03@yahoo.com as i am always looking for new ways to speed my pc up and am free to give advice on the same topic.

p.s. you dont delete things out of the control panel, idk how you did it but you may have messed up your system. the control panel is a bunch of utilities made to help manage your pc.

The following steps should speed up your PC and will make any game run better and smoother. Do all of the steps with patience. Please note that deleting unnecessary and junk files are necessary to attain smooth performance of your PC.

2. Check for disk errors. (right click on a disk-drive>properties>tools >error checking, then restart)
3. Run disk defragmenter, no matter what it says.
4. Delete cookies. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
5. Delete cache or temporary files. (you can do it from your browser options) or, click on 'start", 'run', type 'temp' then click ok. Whatever shows up, just delete.

7. Empty recycle bin.
8. Delete unused icons & short-cuts from anywhere including desktop.
