Why have democracy in Irak when it does not work in the USA.
Americans clearly voted against the Republicans and the Irak war only to see George Bush send more soldiers there to please the Saudis and Kuwaitis. When will the President pay attention to the American voters and not his oil buddies.

2004, he won the election. That sounds like democracy to me. He is given the ability to do so under the constitution. If abe listened to the people, the USA would be divided into 2.

It doesn't work in the USA, huh? So the past 220+ years we spent becoming the most powerful, rich, opportunity filled, and STILL the #1 destination for immigrants in the world, are all just nothing due to the fact that you don't agree with the President's ideals? I think that might be a knee jerk reaction there buddy.

And how is it that he's kowtowing to his "oil buddies?" Oil is at it's lowest point since 2004, and every day it keeps getting lower. The oil companies would love us to pull out because that would cause more conflict and the price of a barrel of oil would go up exponentially.

Look, the whole thing with Iraq sucks, and we all know that. But if we leave now, the middle east will become Iran's playground. They already fund Hezbollah, Al Qaida, and other terrorist groups, so if we just "throw up our hands and say okay, we really don't want to be here," they will train more terrorists, or maybe even build up an entire army and get nuclear power. That would be much worse my friend, much worse.

Democracy may not be perfect but it certainly beats any other known forms of governance. Debatable if you may consider if USA is a democracy as some people think it ain't and others think it's the world's greatest. Personally, I think US has some good democratic institutions and values but unfortunately there are certain things that are just horrifying in my opinion. Democracy is not an end state...

I would believe most Syrians and Iranians do understand democracy. Look at the results of the recent general assembly election in Iran or that Iranian uni students are allowed to protest over the president's visit to their Uni.

It is not only America which has or understands democracy (or that it is the best)...

Democracy works fine here. Even though new people were voted into power, it doesn't mean that the President loses all his power. He is still the most powerful man in the US and in the world. When his term is over in 2008, he will be replaced and the new president will have the power.

The congress has a say and could make things difficult for Bush, but so far they don't seem too interested in fullfilling their promises to the voters.

Democracy DOES work in the U.S.A. and has for over 200 years and still going strong. It might not work in Iraq where 1 religion set all the rules, but it's worth a try. I would like to know why your religion has not allowed those countries to progress beyond basic survival into modern times. You have such a proud history and once led the known world in progress and inventiveness and then, seemingly, it all stopped and you fell way behind in every way and progress ceased. Was that because the radical Muslims took over and forced everybody into strict Islamic law chains?

i think is funny that the same people bitching about high oil prices are the same people saying the only reason were in iraq is because of oil... if you dont like high oil prices, you should support a war over oil, so we can control the oil fields and we wouldnt have to pay so much for it. and, oil is at a several month possibly year low. i mean per barrel, not by the gallon, the reason it hasnt dropped much at the pump is because the people that sell you the gas, want to make a nice profit. this question just further proves the ignorance and pure hatred of anything good for America. thank you for trying to make America, China.

BushOilCo has never paid attention to anything but their agenda.
The surge is to continue the destabilization of Iraq long enough to draw Iran into the fight, thereby gaining Dominion over the entire Gulf Oil Region. Democracy? Ever since "hanging chads" we have been off democracy and marching to the drumbeat of the NeoCon Germanic playbook. And, there is no plan for democracy in Iraq either, but rather another Middle Eastern country providing safe haven for US military bases. We will set up another puppet to run Iraq, just as we have done round the world for decades.

Voters did not clearly vote against the republicans. I believe people voted to have the hands of our soldiers untied so we can obliterate the Sunni triangle and end this once and for all.
