I'm 15, and I know quite a bit on politics and government, but I dont know WHY didn't Bush withdraw the troops from Iraq and send them to New Orlins to help Katrina victems?
In fact, he's sending MORE troops into Iraq, and New Orlins isn't even cleaned up yet!
He'a already began to think about Iran(Where i'm living), but not Katrina!
WHY???!!!!

I dont think it would be smart for the troops to stop their mission in Iraq and come home for a disaster, even one as horrible as Katrina, although I do see where you are coming from.
Leaving the Iraqis without help would create another disaster which Bush wants to avoid.
I believe Americans should step up and help New Orleans more in any way they can, without adding more burden to our troops.
And as far as I know, Bush has no intention of sending troops to Iran :) At least not at this point.
Good question tho!

Because if Bush were to pull troops from Iraq anytime before the Iraq government and military is ready, then the terrorists would riot the streets again, and there would be chaos. As it is, order is just barely being kept. Only 20% of our troops are actually in Iraq. The size our military is, we certainly have enough people to keep relative peace in Iraq and handle a natural disaster in New Orleans. Whether Bush actually sent enough people to New Orleans to help with cleanup is another issue though. I agree that more people should be working on Katrina cleanup, but most of the old residents of the city have found new lives in neighboring states, so there isn't a huge urgency to get New Orleans back to what it used to be. There are many more complicated issues involved as well, such as whether military presence in New Orleans indicates Martial Law or a state of emergency or what.

Because there is no need to. The people of new Orleans should have taken care of themselves and/or the mayor of New Orleans should have taken care of him. But what did the mayor say? He said that this city is going to be a chocolate city! (refering to no whites) Bush didn't need to do anything. And for the part of more troops in iraq, well, as he said it would train the iraqi people and build their own army to keep Iran from making nukes. And going into iran, well, Iran obviously wants a nuke (Think about it. Why wouldn't they want a nuke? With 2 nukes USA won world war 2) and they get mad at everything said against islams. Imagine If any other religion got that mad everytime they were made fun of...

The Army and the National Guard DID help with Katrina, about 3000 troops, that just came back from Iraq that spring were deployed to New Orleans right after Katrina, I know this because my son was involved and they were there about month, just when Rita was coming ashore and they sent them to Houston to help out there. My sons unit, out of Fort Hood Texas wasn't the only troops deployed to New Orleans, there were many others as well, and in reality, our own military took better care of those victims than our government did, they acted quicker that's for sure, as did our own citizens. I hope this clears a little bit up for you. Our military was there for those in New Orleans and what drove them out was the chance of disease from all the decaying bodies and animal carcasses and bacteria from the stagnant water. It's pretty sad that our government takes care of others before it's own, all we can do is watch out for ourselves and take care of each other and not depend on the government to help us out when we need it.

A number of reasons.

The State Governor is required to handle emergencies, and could call up the National Guard to do so. Bush shouldn;t and didn;t. [Giovernors run the state, not the president] That said, he could have called and suggested it, but it was the governor's screwup not to ask for help. Pride and stupidity perhaps.

Troops in Iraq or anywhere don;t just move on a whim. They need eauipment, food, siupport and that takes time too. Plus, they were already doing a job...one cannot just abandon a post.

Everyone tries to blame the president for Katrina and on this one he is getting blamed for merely helping. AMericans are stupid in this subject

You are listening to some biased adults.
Katrina was a natural disaster like all the other hurricanes thathave set their courses for us down the years.
Look at Florida! They were hit time after time & they too, still have not fully recovered.
The Katrina incident got attention, only because too many ppl waited too long to evacuate.Their luck ran out.
President Bush could not save ppl who stayed in an area that they have known for years is dangerous!Fema worked as fast as it could.
Everyone expects someone to pick them up & put them in a brand new home & work miracles.
& everyone wants INSTANT gratification.
The "Blame Game " s all worn out as far as i am concerned! We need to decide how to best keep our country from being run over by illegal aliens & mad arabs!
It is a sin & shame the way we have let our priorities lag & only think about what we can GET out of our country as far as "Freebees" & "Unending Aid"!
