Broadband internet providers usually give you a modem, make sure it is a wireless capable modem. ALL broadbands are compatible with Mac computers. You shouldn't need the broadband CD as long as the modem is setup.
Do these steps
1). make sure your system is recognizing your apple wireless card...go to the blue apple than "about this mac" click on "more info". click on network and make sure your wireless card is listed there.
2). go to the wireless icon at the top right of your screen (looks like a fan) click on it, and than click on "use interference robustness"
3) Click on the blue apple, than click on system preferences, find network and click on it
4). beside where it says SHOW click on "network port configurations" make sure your airport card is at the top of the list (if it's not, drag it to the top) and make sure there is a check mark beside it.
5) click on show again and chose airport
6) make sure the configure ipv4 is using dhcp
7). make sure the ip address starts with 192 or 10....a 169 means the modem is not assigning your computer an IP address, which in that case, you need to contact your internet provider.
8) click "apply now" at the bottom of that screen
9). make sure you are logged into your network (from the fan)..you should now be connected to the internet
IF this did not work, turn off your modem for at least 5 minutes and reboot your computer

Contrary to the propoganda that Warren Cheswick feeds you in the Mac ads, Macs don't work with everything. They are just as likely to crash these days, but they're further hampered by the fact that most basic software is never ported to the Mac platform. The simplest answer is to make sure that your broadband software is actually Mac-compatible. The next step is to make sure that your Mac is fully compatible (is it fast enough, does it have enough memory/hard-drive available, and do you have the correct OS installed?).
