First, you have almost zero chance of getting a H-1B visa. There is a cap of 65,000 such visas issued each year and the backlog is immense. You might have some luck if you find a particularly well-connected immigration lawyer, but don't hold your breath.

Try this forum for some chat about J1 visas:

Also, check the US Immigration site, as referred to in an earlier reply. Finally, you need to be careful with J1 visas, as they can be restrictive in terms of the work you may undertake while in the US.

To find the link go the the USCIS.gov web site, here are some facts to look at. it costs average $2000.00 to complete the process, the job must be one that we have a shortage in, normally high education requirement type jobs, medical and science. Next you will be required a back ground check by your country and ours The FBI you must submit to the US blood and finger prints and agree to a biometrics's card. You must show ability to take care of yourself and not be a burden to the American Tax payer, no welfare and you will need a green card and will not be able to receive SSI until you become a citizen. You must have a company submit a document to bring you here and you must have the money for a round trip ticket. and You must let the US Embassy know where you are at at all times. They do track you now so don't run keep them informed or your outta here. hope that helps.

Go to the website listed below and click on "visas." You could also contact the nearest U.S, Embassy in the country where you live to apply for a U.S. Visa.
