The pill will protect you from pregnancy, but not STD's. The pill, when used correctly, is 99% effective. Condoms, when used correctly, are 97% effective. Combined, they're 99.07% effective, when used correctly, at preventing pregnacy.

Condoms will protect you from STD's, so use them every time. I've been on birth control since I was 15, and still use condoms, even when I'm in a monogamous relationship.

Kudos on looking out for yourself. In this day and age, a girl has to!

Birthcontrol is about 97% effective, or somewhere around there. And yes using both birth control and condoms would help. But anything can happen, just remember that. You still have to be very careful when using condoms or the birth control pill. I was on the pill for 5 years, never missed one, and I got pregnant. So anything can happen. And yes, you are smart for not wanting to get pregnant or get any diseases. Good job for protecting yourself :)

Well nothing protects you 100% but birth control protects you from 98% to 99.9%.. To protect yourself from STDs and pregnancy you should have your boyfriend wear a condom just in case... I think it's a really smart decision to have you take birth control when you don't need it at the moment cause you never know..
=)

Agree with all the above. Just wanted to say that it's awesome that your being responsible. just because you wanna get on BC doesn't automatically mean your having sex or that your more likely to.
it means you have a good head on your shoulder. you should be proud of yourself.
