I was reading articles about the kidnapped boy who was found -- that he was most likely molested. My god, there is NOTHING sexual about a child. I don't understand how an adult could even be sexually attracted to a child. Yet, pedophiles are everywhere... What is with these monsters?!

In having a degree in social work and having on occasion worked with those types of scenarios the main reason that I have found it blatant abuse of power. Individuals that molest children get a power rush when it comes to molesting a child.
There are other factors we could get into. Such as their sexual fantasies and the way the individual is raised. A number of individuals were brought up by thinking that sex is bad so they in turn take that frustration out on others.
But for the most part it is power and the ability to degrade another individual.

They are some twisted individuals to see a baby or child as a sexual being!
It is just so sick!!
It is sad that innocent children's lives are messed up for life & most likely the offender will spend less time in jail/prison.
I wish they'd take those people & casterate them & torture them endlessly for LIFE!!
It reminds me of another case...
That boy Stephen Staynard (sp?) was kidnapped & molested for 7 years.
He had a rough time dealing with what happened & then died in his 20's from a motorcycle accident.
His offender got like 5 years & later @ 71 y/o tried to buy another youngster thru his home health nurse.
I believe he is currently in prison NOW after the 2001 (?) issue but how many other lives did he destroy that weren't uncovered?
I hope he has a big, hairy cellmate that molests him many, many times a day & NOT in a pleasant way!
They made a movie "I Know My First Name is Stephen".
It is so sad...these children that have had to deal with these crazies!

It's an illness, but not one for which anyone can as yet be successfully treated. There is no other way to understand it. I remember an episode of "Law & Order" about just this topic. In the final scene, McCoy was relating a story about a day at the beach. At one point, according to the story, he looked down the beach and saw a beutiful young woman and found himself experiencing the usual male reaction to such a sight. Then the woman turned towards him. He was that it was his own daughter, and threw up at his feelings. That's a normal reaction, and an understandable one.
Yes, it's a horrible, truly reprehensible action, and any child who has been molested needs a great deal of help and a great deal of of healthy loving and nurturing by their families.
All that we can do is to hope that these boys, and all such children, get the help that they need.

Some say it's a chemical imbalance or that abuse victims become predators when they're adults. Personally, I think it's something that person just likes. I don't buy the abuse excuse. It's sick & demented but I guess it's their preference. I wonder why there seems to be more than ever now though. Either way, there's no 'cure' for it. Not many medical procedures or meds curb that behavior. I have no sympathy for anyone that harms a child. No excuse is good enough...sorry.

One augruement which has been used for pedophilia is that children are (for the most part) virgins and thus safe from any and all forms of STDs including AIDS. This is one reason why some pedophiles are seeking children. As for the other reasons, most involve some imbalance in the pedophile, be it mental or chemical. I know most people think that pedophiles are the worst people imaginable, but their is one thing which is worse. Those who physically harm our children. I know that pedophilia involves physical and it is considered harmful, but I mean harming our children to the point of death or near death. In August of this year, my 15 month old baby girl was shaken nearly to death by her babysitter. I only wish that it was only a pedophile who was interested in sexual pleasure. At least my baby would be able to walk and talk and do all of the things that she should be able to do. Instead she was shaken to the point that her brain swelled and nearly killed her. She spent 28 days in the ICU. She will quite possibly never speak, walk or have any kind of a normal life every again. If this had been someone who had done any but the most violent of pedophilic acts, my baby would be out of the hospital. I would like al of the outrage which is turned against pedophiles to be turned against the monsters who shake our babies to death.
Every year 1500-2000 babies are shaken to the point of hospitalization. My baby was shaken and literally one half of her brain was lost. Imagine a healthy happy 15 month old bundle of joy being harmed to that degree. It kills me to even go over it again with all of you, but her story must be told. We must stop Shaken Baby Syndrome from happening. Their is no reason why it has to happen. It is murder. Sexual abuse is something that a child can live with, Shaken Baby Syndrome is something which KILLS and DESTROYS. I miss my baby so much. She is still alive, but is on a ventilator and has problems regulating her body heat. Her swelling got so bad that her brain stem was most likely damaged. This cannot happen to anouther child. Please do whatever you can to stop this from every happening to anouther parent.

Simple really, when the guy was a kid himself he was probably sexually attracted to someone that thie boy resembled. So when he saw this boy, and felt that attraction, instead of being able to talk to someone to find out WHY, he simply decided that he was attracted to people that age instead of understanding that he was reacting to normal stimulii that if he had understood, he would not have acted on. I have made a study of such people, including interviews and have found that most would not be in that situation IF they had the opportuinty to understand why they felt what they were feeling instead of being told that there was soemthing wrong with them and that was the end of it.
Most victims of pedophiles would not have become victims IF these people had a way of understanding why they felt that way, then they could put it to rest and not feel that way anymore. Instead they are left to believe that they HAVE to act on these feelings becasue that is all they are ever told.

Pedophilia is something that is impossible to understand unless you have it. It's just like, I am straight and do not understand people that are gay. Of course though, I can still support gay people, while pedos I cannot. I do not, nor ever will understand the attraction to a child. Thankfully though, people that have this are in the severe minority.

Typically, molesters were molested themselves at one time so the pattern repeat itself generation after generation. They typically dont get treatment because of the heavy social stigma attached to it. It is quite a tragic thing that though there is treatment, the molesters are too frighten or unaware to get it.
