Well, they're not the worst team out there. I'm still trying to figure out how Vancouver is doing so well! It's like an alternate universe :)

The Blues traded Chris Pronger, Pavel Dmitra signed elsewhere and MacInnes retired and they unloaded some dead wood. Since the LOCKOUT (There was never a strike) they have not done well but lately they have come on. They are 7 points out of a playoff spot. They are not dead last in the standings. That spot belongs to Philadelphia. Andy Murray has these guys going pretty well. They are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games. They have an excellent goalie in Curtis Sandford. They still Have Tkachuk, Guerin, Rucinski, Cajanek and Weight up front. They have some promising new players coming along. DO NOT COUNT OUT THE BLUES. There is nearly half the season to catch up. There is plenty of time.

They sucked for a year and a half, made an owner change; made a coaching change; made a "cultural" change to the team; and are now one of the best teams in the league. On a side note, that article by that dimwit over at the sporting news was a month overdue with his article. Only and idiot is going to write something about how bad a team is a month and 1/2 after they're playing as one of the hottest teams in the league. The guy made good points, but to say this team can't make the playoffs is bs.

Well, when the lockout happened the Blues owners pretty much got screwed out of a lotta money and didn't want to deal with it anymore. They traded away our top notch players and put the team up for sale. While the team was for sale, the owners weren't gonna put anymore money into a team that wasn't good.

This season, the Blues started off slow. But we got new owners and a new coach. And I would say, right now the Blues are one of the hottest NHL teams. Just check out their record over the last 20 games. The way they are playin, they may just sneak in to the playoffs!

there's a great article by Ray Slover on the Sporting News that addresses the issues. It really speaks to what they're going thru.

and aquiellez - Vancouver's doing well cuz of 3 things:

Luongo
defense
puck pursuit game - it forces the opponent to make mistakes
