I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones."---------

My guess is that he meant that in WW3 the world as we know it would be destroyed.. because he witness firsthand the destruction that the atomic bomb (which he created) caused... He imagined that if his bomb he created could cause so much devastation.... the technology available during WW3 would destroy the world as we know it so much that when ww4 began... We (humans) would fight like we used to back in the days... with stick and stones, maybe swords but I dunno... I think he is right!!

that's how I see it too. The technology of weapons in war will increase so much that by WIV, the technology will be able to destroy most if not the entire world, and then we'll have no one to fight with.

But btw, he didn't actually CREATE the atomic bomb. He just discovered the information (E=MC^2) that helped scientists make the bomb. He was very antiwar, that's why he moved to America. I did a project on him.

World World IV will be fought with democracy and politics. IMO. Remember, Einstein saw the atomic bomb but he was a very intellectual individual. He was smart enough to realize the political devastation of a nuclear weapon was just as powerful as the human devastation.

I love this quote. It really makes you look at the world in a whole new perspective and wonder what the human race is coming to. If you want to delve more into something similar to this read 'The Sword of Shannara' series. It's very interesting.

This looks more like a quote than a poem to me.

I don't get the metaphors. What does he mean by sticks and stones? Bible and Koran?
