They could, but that is how Hitler took power. After the fire Reichstag fire he persuaded President Hindenburg to issue a decree entitled, "For the Protection of the People and the State." Which was a decree that suspended the constitutional guarantees pertaining to civil liberties. Two weeks after the Reichtag fire Hitler requested the Reichstag to temporarily delegate its power to him so that he could adequately deal with the crisis.

Are you crazy? Here you have a man who lied to the American people, who knew 3 months prior to the 9/11 attacks that something was coming down the pipe-and let it ride instead of doing the NSA measures anyway. If anyone, Bill Clinton should have gottem a 3rd term. Historically, we enjoyed the best economy in U.S. history during his administration. Bush is a self serving tax and spend bureaucrat-next time you go to the gas pump you'll see that. While we were so worried about Saddam, what happened to Osama, the true mastermind behind 9/11? Never mind that Halliburton is the #1 contractor in the rebuilding of Iraq-and the maker of our war machines-someone is getting paid to destroy Iraq, and put it back together. And aren't both Bush and Cheney both heavily invested in this company? Now who do you trust?

Bush stands about as good of a chance of getting to serve a 3rd term in office as a snowball in hell.If by some remote possibility he were to get one this nation would resemble a ghost town in a very short time because I believe a vast majority of the people of this country would leave before the would have to put up with more of Bush's B.S.

I don't agree with a single thing "Bush" has done thus far. And I feel as though there are millions of people that feel the same way as I do about him. So, I don't believe he will get voted in for a 3rd term, even if they did allow him to run again. He'll go down next election!!!

I don't know anything about Pat Robertson asking for a third term for Bush, but the US Constitution limits the President to two terms, so there won't be any third term.

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President, when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
thank God for the 22nd amendment:

To those who are dismissing this saying it is unconstitutional be careful! The Bush admin has been dismantling the constitution with alarming speed and very little opposition.
He indeed could gain another term if martial law is declared following another "pearl harbor event". FEMA is a lap dog with very sharp teeth.

This is the same kind of nonsense talk that some Republicans were saying at the end of the Clinton administration. It was ridiculous then and now. When will people understand that a difference of opinion does not a tyrant make?
