Pretty much any part of the ear can be pierced. I've pierced several peoples cartilage before and never had any ill effects. Just to be on the safe side, have another, more experienced, piercer observe the procedure. And above all, remember to follow aftercare instructions very closely. Antibiotics do not work generally on cartilage piercings as there is too little blood flow.

If he's professional then he'll only do it by needle.
Do not let him do it for you if he is going to use the gun!!
The gun will shatter the cartilidge from the impact it makes, and give you a gross bump at the back of your ear.
Needle is the safest way to do it.
Also, see what side you sleep on. Get your ear pierced on the side you don't sleep on! It's very painful to sleep on a cartildge piercing in the first 3 months
Make sure you get a stud first. If he tells you, you can get a ring, again don't use him to pierce your ear! You must use a stud first before you go to a ring. It heals much better with the stud.
Make sure to keep it clean, he should give you a special solution designed for cleaning it.
Have fun!

I wouldnt do that. Theres certain ways your cartilage can be pierced that will actually break it and make your ear droop. If you want to take the risk of getting it peirced, definately go to a professional.

Ah I even have had 9 piercings, 6 of that are in my cartilage. even in the experience that your buddy has seen her dad do it lots I pretty advise getting it professionally executed. you ought to do it in a sparkling ecosystem and the college parking zone isn't precisely an somewhat sterile place. As for the cost area of it, I purely horde all my money interior the financial employer so whilst i began spending all my money I hade a solid grant yet what might artwork for you is: save up or ask your buddy's dad in case you may artwork it off (freshen up around the keep, help with inventory, artwork whilst somone calls in unwell, hi in case you do a solid job he could even hire you!). Now i be attentive to it'llcontinual you insane because of the fact i'm specific whilst asking how lots it hurts all and sundry has advised you that it relies upon on your tolerence to discomfort, besides the undeniable fact that it is genuine. once I had my first indutrial executed it exchange into mabye a 7 initially and then the discomfort diminished for slightly yet approximately 5 minutes later it began to experience like it exchange into burning and stayed at mabye a 4 or 5 for the subsequent couple weeks. All in all inspite of the incontrovertible fact that, to not undesirable (apart from whilst a broom have been given caught on it or I touched it with a towel whilst drying my hair, slept on it, and so on). in case you like a coarse concept of ways lots it is going to wreck, wait till your nails are 2 or 3 millimetres long and then pinch your self (stressful). it fairly is be approximately two times as undesirable as that (it fairly is going inspite of the incontrovertible fact that 2 facets of the exterior). I consistently take a painkiller an hour in the previous i bypass to get peirced. Any sort will do, yet i discover that tylonal or aleve artwork the perfect. Motrin thins your blood which will reason slightly greater bleeding and it ought to scare you. not something to rigidity approximately besides the undeniable fact that it fairly is slightly creepy. so which you ought to sum all of it up: save up or artwork for it, no, prevalent a 6 (for me), and tylonal or aleve. solid luck honey, I choose you luck with your new peircing, purely determine you're taking solid care of it and it is usually a fantastic experience :)
